DNS Server Failure

One of our DNS servers failed this morning and had to be replaced. The replacement server is online now, however some customers may see errors and inconsistencies in their DNS records for a short time while the DNS cluster re-synchronises.
Rescheduled Maintenance Window

As of this week, we are moving our regular weekly maintenance window from Fridays to Saturdays, between 12:00 (noon) and 16:00 (UK time).
Any work which we don’t expect to disrupt our services will be performed during that time, without a specific announcement being sent out. Anything that might cause a disruption will still be announced via service notice (but will probably be performed during that same maintenance window as well).
Valcato Account Upgrade

We will be performing an upgrade to the Valcato Account software on Sunday, July 17, 2011 starting at 22:00 UTC which makes several improvements to the order process, an improved DNS management interface for those not using our hosting services and allows us to offer a wider variety of promotions in future, plus a whole raft of 'behind the scenes' improvements.
We don't anticipate the upgrade taking longer than 30 minutes. Your Valcato Account will be unavailable during this time.
Domain System Maintenance

Our domain supplier will be performing essential maintenance to their systems on Saturday, May 28 between 14:30 and 16:00 UTC. During this time clients will not be able to manage their domains and the My Domains section of the Valcato Account may fail to load. Any registration, renewal or transfer requests made during this time will be processed after the maintenance is complete.
Existing domains are unaffected and will continue to resolve as usual.
Email Delays

We are currently experiencing delays in sending email from the server which hosts our web site, meaning it may take a while before customers receive some email from us (e.g. invoice notifications and support ticket replies). We hope to have this resolved soon.
This doesn't affect email sent by our customers from their own accounts, and we are still able to receive email as normal.
Website Maintenance

Moving Our Web Site

We'll be moving our web site to a new server over the next couple of days. The web site and customers' Valcato Accounts should remain operational throughout, though visitors may notice the occasional small error while we're working.
Customer web sites are not affected.
Sporadic Error Messages on valcato.com and valcatohosting.com

Visitors to our web site may currently see some sporadic error messages. This affects valcatohosting.com, valcato.com and our billing and support systems on secure.valcato.com. We're currently working on fixing the problem, and hope to have everything back to normal soon.
Customer web sites are not affected.
Valcato Account Upgrade

Domain Management Issues

Our domain provider is currently experiencing technical issues with their systems which is having a knock on effect upon the My Domains section of the Valcato Account panel. The domain details pages may load slower than normal until the issue is resolved.
Thank you for your patience, our supplier is working to resolve the issue.
Network Issues

We've just experienced what appears to be a brief network outage, affecting customers in Europe. This seems to have affected people trying to reach both our web site and customer web sites, which suggests that there was a wider network issue affecting multiple providers (our site is on a separate network from customer sites to try to avoid communication problems in the event of an outage).
Our network provider has acknowledged the issue, and we will update this notice when we have more information, though at this time everything appears to be back to normal.
Valcato Account Upgrade

We will be upgrading the software behind the Valcato Account area on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 beginning at 2100 UTC and updating the appearance to match our new layout. We anticipate the Valcato Account will be inaccessible for new and existing customers wishing to place orders and manage accounts for approximately 30 minutes. There may also be a few visual issues for the remainder of the scheduled time whilst we make final adjustments. Customer websites will not be affected.
Customers wishing to be informed when the maintenance is complete should subscribe to updates.
Regular Maintenance Window

RBSWorldpay Planned Maintenance

Our credit and debit card processor RBSWorldpay will be performing scheduled maintenance to their systems on Sunday, September 12 at 0000 UTC. The practice of Disaster Recovery procedures will be completed by approximately 0400 UTC.
RBSWorldpay will also be performing scheduled maintenance on Sunday, September 19 at 0000 UTC. This further robustness testing will take place over a 4-hour period and will be completed by approximately 0400 UTC.

Support email delays

We are currently experiencing problems receiving support requests by email -- this includes new requests and replies to existing requests. Customers should log into the Account Control Panel and create or update support tickets directly instead of using email until this is resolved.
Only emails that are sent to our support email addresses are affected, so customers will continue to receive messages sent by us as normal.
RBSWorldpay Planned Maintenance

Our credit and debit card processor RBSWorldpay will be performing scheduled maintenance to their systems on Tuesday, June 22 at 0500 UTC. The essential maintenance work will be completed by approximately 0600 UTC.
RBSWorldpay will also be performing scheduled maintenance on Saturday, June 26 at 2300 UTC. This work will take place over a 7-hour period and will be completed by approximately 0600 UTC on Sunday, June 27.

Unexpected "Transfer-In Process" Emails

It has come to our attention that some customers with .uk domain names have received an email with the subject Transfer-In process for DOMAIN completed successfully. Please accept our apologies that you have been sent this email, it should not have been sent and you can safely ignore it.
We have negotiated a reduced price for .uk domains with a new supplier; $8/year compared with our previous price of $12/year. Today we began transferring domain names across to them so that you could benefit from this reduced pricing. We were hoping to do this totally transparently without our customers noticing, and based on our tests we were not expecting this email to be sent.
So to recap, please ignore this email and when your domain is next due for renewal you will only be charged $8/year.

Account Control Panel Upgrade

We will be performing a major upgrade to the Account Control Panel on Saturday, May 16, 2009 starting at 11:00 UTC which will add some great new features, including support for billing in GBP, multiple attachments to support tickets, security questions and a whole raft of 'behind the scenes' improvements.
Due to the size of the upgrade it is likely that the Account Control Panel will be unavailable for periods throughout the day. Staff will be available during the work should you urgently need access.
Domain Name Technical Issues

Our primary domain name provider is currently experiencing a major hardware failure that has necessitated replacement of said hardware and restoration of data. Some customers, mainly with .uk and .ca domains are not affected.
During this time customers will not be able to manage their domain names and any new orders will not be processed until the issue is resolved. Your websites will continue to function as normal.
Our supplier is doing everything to bring the system up as soon as possible and we will update this notice as we receive more information. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience.
Gmail Outage

Gmail is currently experiencing a widespread outage. Since we make use of Gmail's service for valcatohosting.com, this is affecting our ability to send and receive email, including our support ticket system. Customers submitting new support requests or responding to existing requests by email may experience a delay before we see their messages -- messages submitted through the account control panel will still get to us immediately, so we recommend that customers use that instead for the time being.
Customer email accounts are not affected.
