Messages sent via the Mailman Mailing Lists to/from email addresses operated by Yahoo and AOL - including email services provided by these companies under various ISP brands - may occasionally fail to be delivered. The mailing list administrators receive a bounce message containing one or more of these 550 error codes errors:

  • 5.7.9 Message not accepted for policy reasons
  • Sorry, this message fails DMARC
  • 5.7.1 Email rejected per DMARC policy
  • Sender's policy prohibits this message: Reject

The Mailman Mailing List settings can be adjusted to prevent this from occurring and ensure the messages are delivered:

  1. Login to cPanel
  2. Click the Mailing List icon
  3. Click the "Manage" link next to your mailing list
  4. Navigate to the Privacy Options > Sender Filters page
  5. Locate the dmarc_moderation_action setting
  6. Change the value to Munge From
  7. Click Submit Your Changes
