Ping stands for 'Packet Internet Groper' and tests whether one computer can access another. If you are having difficulty viewing your website we may ask you to ping a number of websites to determine where the problem is. To perform a ping:

  1. Hold the Windows button on your keyboard and press R.
  2. A "Run" dialogue box will appear, type:

    cmd

    Type cmd

  3. Click OK.
  4. A DOS prompt will appear, type:
  5. ping WEBSITE.COM

  6. Replace WEBSITE.COM with the address or IP of the website we ask you to ping.

You can receive a number of responses and our technical support staff will be able to tell you what they mean.
